Mark your calendar for the November event Thursday, November 16,at 6:30PM
An Evening With The CIOs and City Managers, Moderated By Sarah Tribble, San Jose Mercury News

In our 9/26/06 meeting, we had two distinguished speakers from HP and Cisco. They presented their experience in deploying metro wide WiFi networks, and there was an extensive discussion s around their companies WiFi activities and product

This month we will have 4 wireless experts that will discuss their lessons learned from deployment of large area WiFi and its relevant OSS and convergence aspects .

The subjects of "What is the business model?" and "Who pays for free service?" and "what is the value of a local user?" will remain hot topics. The MetroSIG will explore these questions by bringing the best speakers from companies and research institutes.

There is a growing interest in "emergency networks" for disaster situations. We believe that these networks should be dual mode disaster / commercial modes. In their commercial mode these networks will serve their communities and will generate benefit and revenues for their operators. MetroSIG will conduct emergency networks SIG meetings, in addition to all our existing activities. The first meeting will be on Dec-12.

MetroSIG is a forum for discussion of all aspects of the Municipal broadband trends. Monthly meetings are conducted around key topics related to Municipal WiFi/wireless. The format of the meeting encourages an active interchange among all attendees.

Looking forward to meeting you in our events and getting your suggestions.
