PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

'Municipal Wireless Applications'  - Brian Jenkins, VP Product Management
Abstract: - Although the municipal wireless market is still young, it is clear that the municipalities who are deploying wireless networks will run a wide variety of applications to make optimal usage of the network. This mixed-use model helps cost justify the business model for municipal wireless through reduced telecommunication costs, increased government efficiency, enhanced public safety, and improved community communications. This talk will highlight some of the applications that municipalities are deploying and how a common wireless network can support a breadth of municipal applications.

'Community Access Networks: Burbank and the Case for a Hybrid Network' - Amit Malhotra, VP Marketing, Proxim Wireless, a subsidiary of Terabeam
Abstract: - The business model for a community access network relies in large part on the cost of the network infrastructure and how it is spread across and funded by various user groups. These factors drive technology choice and architecture. This case study presentation offers a new view of community access network architecture, one that features a combination deployment to offer public Wi-Fi and mission-critical municipal communications, and that maximizes coverage and scalability with intelligent use of infrastructure.
